DH brought this home from a local hardware store. I had a very light application of orange peel already on the wall and needed to match the smooth areas with it. Doing some sample sprays is an absolute must. And the directions are straight forward but it doesn't tell you about the light hand you need. I checked out some reviews and did just what they said. I ran the can under warm water for about 15-20 seconds (to get a finer spray), stood away from the wall about 3'-4' and sprayed in circular motion. I was able to shoot from where i was standing all the way up the wall to the ceiling. I ended up spraying the entire 3 full walls (very small bathroom) to get it uniform. The spray was somewhat fine and consistent, with small globs here and there (which i blotted with a paper towel immediately after). Overall i was satisfied... Using the heavy setting I got good results and an acceptable match with the heavy texturing on the 4th wall. I agree with other comments that the start and end of the can can be inconsistent and that a test on cardboard is important for each can. The total area covered was 80 sq ft and It took five and a half cans to cover. The 110 sq feet of coverage advertised on the can might be valid for a "scattered pimples" finish but in my experience one can would cover 50 sq feet with fine texture as shown on the can or about 15 sq feet with heavy texture. I bought this version of the product to take advantage of the "low odor" but agree with previous commenter that the propellant had a strong odor. Overall I'm happy with the results and ease of use. I'll use this on my next small project keeping in mind that I need to ventilate well and plan to use significantly more than recommended. 2 of 2 people found the following review helpful: The first can worked great but not the second can, By Amazon Verified Purchase This review is from: Homax 4092 Drywall Spray Texture Water-Base, 20-Ounce (Tools & Home Improvement) I purchased this to apply texture to a drywall area that had been repaired. The first can I used (purchased through Amazon) work perfectly and the orange peel texture matched very closely to the remaining area of the wall. Since my walls have a very light texture, I tested the spray patterns and selected the lightest spray and then followed the directions of heating the can in hot water to make the spray pattern even lighter as that is what I needed for my walls. It worked perfectly. The second can (purchased from Home Depot as I needed it the same day) was another story. I followed the exact same process of testing the spray, dialing it down to a lighter spray, heating the can and testing again. Everything was great until I started spraying the drywall and the flimsy nozzle came loose and it started spraying big lumps. I had to wipe off the texture (and you simply can't get 100% of it off) and there was nothing I could do to fix the nozzle so the can would work... Read more |
